Aries Flair in Love & War

March 21st Aries season opens on the wheel and when we think of Aries, it’s a new beginning in the season of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and of course Autumn here in the Southern part of the world. It’s ruling planet is Mars and so we’re going to take a look at the 5’s on the Tree of Life.

The zodiacal year is based on Western Astrology as it was deemed so in Babylonian times to mark the commencement of the agricultural wheel. This was to ensure that people could plant and grow their crops according to the season and well, survive. Aries is a fire sign so it’s fuelled with passion, competition, action, and the desire to go for what you really WANT. Venus has been in Aries since 20th of February and will stay there until March 15th. Venus is attraction / Mars is action into being.

“Geburah is associated in the soul with the power to restrain one’s innate urge to bestow goodness upon others, when the recipient of that good is judged to be unworthy and liable to misuse it. It is the restraining might of Geburah which allows one to overcome his enemies, be they from without or from within.” - Wikipedia.

Aries (and traditionally Scorpio) is ruled by Mars and represented by 5th sephira on the Tree of Life pertaining to Geburah (DIN). Geburah (Severity/Discipline) is a place for us to be challenged for our own personal growth and power. It protects the supernal mother Binah above in the 3rd sephira and prepares itself for the 6th in the form of Beauty in Tiferet. Tiferet is where all the cool kids hang out - you know, ascended masters and other evolved peeps. But we’re not there yet in 5 energy. All of the ‘5’ minor arcana sit inside this emanation of this part of our soul journey - so let’s have a look.

If we ponder at the 5’s in Tarot as a journey, they are often fraught with conflict, sadness, cruelty, not being acknowledged and just plain old MEAN GIRLS! Venus is not only the planet of attraction it can also create negativity if in retrograde and produce feelings of jealousy, competition that can be cruel and other low vibrational energy. You will also notice these 4 cards are also fixed modalities.
